Goatlings is an online game similar to neopets. You take care of your pet goatings
by feeding and playing with them. There are several fun things to do in Goatlings! The
main goal of this game is to collect things, whether that be "appearance dolls" to change
the look of your goatling, or outfits to dress up your virtual avatar.
If you're interested in checking out Goatlings, you can sign up for free
here! This game is ad free, so it
uses a premium membership feature and donations to keep the site going.
I will go through the main tabs of the game and explain what each one does. Since Goatlings
is such a big site, I will only be going over the features that I understand.
Information on the Different Pages
This button is very simple. It takes you to the homepage of Goatlings.
There you can see the welcome page (no matter how old your account is), the
newest goatling that was just added, and the newest items to collect. On
the right side of the screen you can see the various features of Goatlings
that I will go over later, as well as the avatar, or "HA Buddy" of a random user
of the site.
The next button down takes you to the map of the town. This map
can take you to various places on the Goatlings site. One of the most important
places on the map is the Fountain of Health, which will allow for you to heal
all of your goatlings to full health for 1,000 sugar stars (the currency of
the game). Other places of note are the palace, adoption center, battle
center, clubhouse, sugar bank, shops, auction house, giving tree, and
mailbox, though these can be accessed in other places on the site.
Next is the news button. The news page is where you can go to see updates
on the game. Whenever a new update is posted to the news page, the news
button will change to encourage you to click on it to see the news. Some
common posts include announcing:
The weekly raffle winner(s)
The Saturday night bidding wars
Events for holidays and special occasions
New items to collect
The community center is a page dedicated to showing you information
about current and old events, shops corresponding to those events, and
other basics like the dev log, fundraisers, and more.
This is the page most people will start their Goatling adventure on.
The adopt button takes you to the adoption center! Here, you can adopt
new goatlings, surrender goatlings you don't want anymore, rehome goatlings
other people have surrendered, and trade goatlings with other players. Your
goatlings are the main gateway to playing Goatlings (surprising for sure).
Each goatling you adopt needs to have a unique name, so some people will
trade goatlings based on their unique names, even if the goatling itself
isn't very rare.
Next up is the arcade! This is a good place to get sugar stars (though
in my opinion not the best). Here you can play various games like... uh
mostly gambling that's not the best. Like I was just looking at the games and
they're mostly gambling games. Like one of them is literally slots. Like
it's slots with ice cream. Um... well you can also do trivia where an item
is blurred and you have to guess the name of it! That's definitely not gambling.
Ok let's just move on...
This button takes you to the shops. There are various kinds of shops such
as food, toys, appearance dolls, weapons, potions, collectables for your HA Buddy,
and a lot more. I mainly use the shops to buy food, toys, and "battle pets" which
we'll go over later. Appearance dolls are how you change the look of your goatling
which is one of the main appeals of the game. You can get appearance dolls in many
different places on the site, but the shops are the most common.
The shops' stock updates every 10 minutes, so if a shop doesn't have what you
need, you can come back later.
You can also find your sugar bank here, which gives you interest
click on the "Collect interest" link once per day.
Ok we're going over it now. This is where kids become goats.
This is one of the better ways to get sugar stars, but it comes at a cost.
Your goat shall fight various enemies in order to procure sugar stars and
other various collectibles. The battle center features four different
enemies to fight which refresh about every month, and one special enemy
that refreshes every year.
Each enemy you fight will give you sugar stars
as well as an item most of the item. Each time you fight an enemy, the enemy's
health will increase by 2. So the more you fight an enemy, the harder it is
to kill the next time. This is where battle pets can help you! If you purchase
a battle pet and equip it to your goatling, that battle pet will appear with
you in battle. Battle pets increase the amount of damage your goatling can do per
attack, but eventually they run out of uses and you need to buy a new one.
After you battle too much, your goatling will become too tired, hungry,
or hurt to continue fighting. In order to get your goatling to fight for you
again, you'll need to heal it, feed it, or play with it. While you can technically
buy potions to heal your goatling, I usually just go to the Fountain of Health
on the Town Map to heal them. You can buy food and toys for your goatling
at the shops. Once your goatling is tended to, you can get back to fighting!
The forums are where you can go to talk to other players. I basically
never go here as the community of Goatlings tends to lean younger than me.
It can be a good place to go if you have a question or are just interested
in seeing what other players are talking about.
This is one of my favorite pages of the site. The exlore tab lets you go
on little adventures with your goatlings. You can get unique appearance dolls
and other items depending on which area you decide to explore. Each area has
a difficulty rating, which mostly just corresponds to how much health the
enemies have. It costs 1,000 sugar stars to enter an explore area, and you
get 10 "moves" in the area. Most of the time, it's very easy to make your money
back.
I don't really go here it's more for people who have personal stores
up to decorate them. Or to design custom goatlings for competitions. I
do not do these things.
You're never gonna believe what this one does.
Wow That Was a Lot of Information. Why Do You Like This Game?
I'm a sucker for games that let you collect too many items. I like
customizing my goatling with items that I earned through battle or
exploring. I also just like collecting the appearance dolls and not even
putting them on any goatling. I like to stare...
It's a relaxing game for me. The goats are cute and having a browser
game that you can just quickly open whenever you need a break is very nice.
